Hexalite X family of product attempts to blur the lines between performance and casual footwear while taking inspiration from iconic Reebok heritage product
It was important for this project to create an iconic outsole and sidewall identity for two Hexalite X products
Drawing inspiration from a seasonal theme of ‘surfcraft’ this concept explores exposed technology. As seen in the skateboard image. The project also plays into a larger theme of ‘Highjack Heritage’. This is where designers are tasked with looking back into Reeboks deep archives of product as inspiration.
The Hexalite technology is exposed from the side and underfoot.
We invented a new upper material that was a play on waxed canvas. Our material would slowly expose more of the canvas color and texture through extended wear.
This product was designed to retail for $75 and required simplicity in its design. To achieve this I referenced the famous Reebok Ventilator.
Keeping true to the original Ventilator I chose a functional mesh for the Quarter panel that allowed lacing options as well as ventilation
We kept a simple sidewall and exposed the Hexalite technology underfoot. The strong hexagonal design characteristics continue to the outsole
